Patrick Henry Smith 

After building a career in Silicon Valley in the 1990s, where I gained valuable experience in innovative problem-solving and strategic thinking, I pursued my legal education at the University of Georgia School of Law, graduating with honors in 2002. I then launched a successful career as a tax law adviser with one of the largest public accounting firms in the world, specializing in tax consulting.

During my time in tax consulting, I authored and co-authored numerous scholarly articles on Constitutional and other legal issues affecting taxpayers operating in multiple states. This expertise led to invitations to speak at prestigious national tax seminars, including those sponsored by Georgetown Law Center, New York University School of Law, and the American Bar Association. I was honored to be one of the featured speakers at these events and was appointed head of the Taxation Section for S Corporations by the American Bar Association.

My career trajectory then led me into business leadership roles, prompting me to attend and become an alumnus of Harvard Business School through the General Management Program. As President of a legal tax research company, I oversaw strategic operations, managed a multidisciplinary team, and led the company through significant growth and operational efficiency improvements, culminating in its successful sale for approximately $377 million in cash. I also held the role of Chief of Staff to the Chief Operating Officer of a large publicly traded tax compliance software company.

Now practicing law full-time in Oregon, I reside with my family in McMinnville and maintain offices in both McMinnville and Portland. My decision to return to legal practice stems from a desire to engage in more meaningful work that directly affects my community. I am actively licensed to practice law in both Oregon and North Carolina.
